hamnøy by shutterbug_uk2012 I was browsing a list of the most beautiful places on earth recently and for some reason the West Midlands didn’t appear to feature. Which is surprising given that Birmingham has a more extensive canal network than Venice. Admittedly, the artwork adorning our local waterways here isn’t really neoclassical and on the stretch nearest to my house, there are some words painted on the walls which I don’t fully understand (given the fact that I pHowever, this place did make the list. Hamnøy, which sits at the southern end of the Lofoten Islands, is probably one of the most photographed places in northern Norway and for very good reason. Traditional red painted fishing huts sit framed against a dramatic mountain backdrop and it’s actually pretty hard not to take an image that you’re happy with here, whatever the conditions.
