The show has started by Ron Jansen – EyeSeeLighT Photography Six weeks before, you book an airplane, accommodation and a rental car for the Vesterålen because you want to see the Northern Lights… You arrive in the evening, it’s dark, you don’t know anything about the surroundings, and later that first night the light show just starts at midnight…!! This is taken behind the apartment we were renting, and yes, I knew that I could get this view when I booked. But I didn’t know whether the skies would be clear and the Northern Lights would show themselves… Talk about luck!
I couldn’t do much with composition though, not knowing the surroundings yet. But I liked the sense of scale here. The mountain tops behind the small village at the bottom are 500-700 m high… but they almost disappear from sight under the large Northern Lights!
This is my first ever Northern Lights picture and I’m satisfied. After 4 hours on Andøya my visit was already a success! 😉 http://flic.kr/p/kWe4c2
